Kauppatieteellinen is a Finnish term that translates literally as "commercial scientist" or "business scientist." It is used primarily to refer to the academic discipline of business administration and related fields such as economics, finance, marketing, and management. Historically, the term has been employed in Finland to differentiate professional business studies from purely theoretical economics. In university settings, a kauppatieteellinen degree corresponds to a Bachelor’s or Master’s level qualification in business administration, equivalent to a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in other countries.

The concept originated in the early 20th century as Finland expanded its higher education offerings beyond classical disciplines.
