Kattelemendid

Kattelemendid, also known as catfish, are a diverse group of freshwater and marine ray-finned fish belonging to the order Siluriformes. They are characterized by their elongated, scaleless bodies, which are well-suited for their bottom-dwelling lifestyle. Kattelemendid are found in various habitats, including rivers, lakes, and oceans, and they play a significant role in their ecosystems as both predators and prey.

There are over 2,700 known species of kattelemendid, with the most diverse families being the catfish (Siluridae), which includes the common catfish, and the pangasiidae, which includes the pangasius, a popular aquaculture species. Kattelemendid exhibit a wide range of sizes, from the tiny gourami, which can be as small as 2.5 centimeters, to the giant catfish, which can reach lengths of over 2 meters.
