Kaskádu

Kaskádu is a fictional town and municipality in the eastern highlands of the imaginary country of Valoria. The town sits in a river valley along the Kaská River, surrounded by deciduous forests and basalt outcrops. It has a population of about 11,500 and covers roughly 42 square kilometers. The name is derived from a local word meaning "cascade," a reference to the river's stepped falls.

Geography and climate: The town lies in a river valley with rolling hills to the north and forests to the south. The climate is temperate, with cool, wet winters and warm summers; the nearby falls contribute to a misty microclimate that supports diverse flora.

History: Founded in the 13th century by the Árlin people, Kaskádu grew as a market town trading timber, grain, and pottery. It attained municipal rights in 1798 and saw rapid industrialization in the late 19th century, including a small hydroelectric plant in 1906.

Economy and culture: Today the economy blends agriculture, small manufacturing, and tourism. Local crafts include pottery and textile weaving. Cultural life centers on the riverside promenade, the annual Cascade Festival, and the Kaskádu Museum of Cascades.

Administration and landmarks: Governance is by a 15-member municipal council led by a mayor elected to four-year terms. Notable sites include the Cascade Bridge, Kaskádu Waterfall, and the Old Town Hall, which houses archives and a small gallery.
