Kardashev
Nikolai Stepanovich Kardashev (1922–2009) was a Soviet and Russian astrophysicist who proposed a method for classifying advanced extraterrestrial civilizations by their energy consumption. In 1964, in the proceedings of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, he introduced what became known as the Kardashev scale, a framework for assessing technological advancement based on the amount of energy a civilization can harness and use.
The scale identifies three core types: Type I (planetary civilization) can use and store all energy available
The Kardashev scale has influenced discussions in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) and speculative futurism,
Kardashev's work extends beyond the scale, contributing to the study of radio astronomy and high-energy astrophysical
