Karashahr

Karashahr is a city located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Historically known by several names, including Karashar, Qara Shahr, and Yanqi, it has served as an important oasis town along the ancient Silk Road. The city is situated in a fertile basin, irrigated by the Kaidu River, which contributes to its agricultural productivity.

It was a significant center of the Kingdom of Karashar, an ancient Tocharian kingdom.
