Kapitalzuflüsse, also known as capital inflows, refer to the movement of financial assets into a country. This can encompass a wide range of investments, including foreign direct investment (FDI), portfolio investment in stocks and bonds, and loans from foreign entities. When a country experiences significant capital inflows, it often signals investor confidence in its economy and potential for growth. These inflows can boost a nation's foreign exchange reserves, lower borrowing costs, and stimulate economic activity by providing capital for businesses and infrastructure projects.

However, substantial capital inflows can also present challenges. A rapid and sustained influx of foreign capital can lead to an appreciation of the domestic currency, making exports more expensive and imports cheaper, which can negatively impact the trade balance. Furthermore, managing these inflows can be complex for central banks, as they may need to intervene in currency markets to prevent excessive appreciation or control inflation. Large and volatile capital flows can also increase financial instability if the underlying investments are speculative or if the receiving country's financial system is not sufficiently robust to absorb them. Therefore, governments and central banks often implement policies to manage and regulate capital flows to maximize their benefits while mitigating potential risks.
