Kapillæråpning

Kapillæråpning, or capillary opening, refers to the small pore or passage that allows fluid to enter or exit a capillary blood vessel. These openings are crucial for the exchange of substances between the blood and the surrounding tissues. The size of these openings can vary depending on the type of capillary and the physiological conditions. In most systemic capillaries, the openings are relatively small, allowing for the passage of small molecules like water, ions, and glucose, while larger components like red blood cells and plasma proteins are retained within the vessel.

In certain specialized capillaries, such as those found in the kidneys (glomerulus) or the liver (sinusoids), the capillary openings are larger and more permeable. This increased permeability facilitates more rapid and extensive exchange of substances. For instance, in the glomerulus, the filtration barrier includes fenestrations, which are pores in the endothelial cells, contributing to the efficient filtration of plasma to form urine. Similarly, sinusoids in the liver have wide lumens and discontinuous basement membranes, allowing for the passage of large molecules and even cells.

The regulation of capillary opening is influenced by various factors, including hormonal signals and local metabolic demands. For example, during inflammation, certain mediators can increase the permeability of capillary openings, leading to the leakage of fluid and immune cells into the affected tissue. Understanding kapillæråpning is fundamental to comprehending processes like nutrient delivery, waste removal, and inflammatory responses within the body.
