Kantautumaan

Kantautumaan is a small town located on the southern coast of Finland. It is situated in the municipality of Nopea-Ava, which is part of the larger region of Uusimaa.

Kantautumaan has a population of approximately 250 residents. The town experiences a predominantly cold climate, with winter temperatures often dropping below freezing. Summer months are characterized by cool to moderate temperatures and overcast skies.

Local economy is largely driven by fishing and processing industries, with many residents employed in these sectors. Additionally, some residents engage in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Town amenities include basic services such as grocery stores, medical facilities, and postal services. Majority of residents have access to the nearby coastline for recreational purposes. Limited public transportation is available connect residents to neighboring areas.

Data from 1980 indicates the population of Kantautumaan consisted of 97% Finnish, with 3% of the population belonging to other ethnic groups. In terms of education, nearly 75% of population holds a high school degree, while around 10% hold university degrees.

In minutes of the national council, Kantautumaan was first referred to as the district of Yläkomalajoki in 1925. Later, in 1980 census, the village had the distinct differentiation of being named by the noun 'autumaan' following the waterways. According to local historical records, the village residents utilised these waterways for fishing and procurement purposes since early settlement.
