Kallioperät
Kallioperät refers to the bedrock or solid rock foundation that lies beneath the soil and unconsolidated surficial deposits of the Earth's crust. This ancient and stable layer forms the structural basis of continents and ocean floors. In Finland, the bedrock is predominantly composed of Precambrian crystalline rocks, primarily granites and gneisses, which are part of the Fennoscandian Shield. These rocks are incredibly old, with many formations dating back billions of years, making them some of the oldest geological structures on the planet.
