Kalküls

Kalküls is a fictional city in the river delta region of the Republic of Veridia. It serves as a regional hub for commerce, education, and culture, with a history tied to river trade and inland shipping.

The name Kalküls derives from Kalku, a local term meaning "stone" or "foundation," with the suffix -ls indicating a plural or urban settlement.

Kalküls sits on the Kalku Delta, a web of canals and marshlands along the Veridian coast. The city experiences a temperate climate with warm summers and a pronounced wet season, and it maintains flood-control infrastructure to protect neighborhoods and infrastructure.

Founded in the 12th century by river traders, Kalküls grew as a commercial link between inland cities and coastal markets. It expanded industrially in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has since evolved into a diversified economy focused on logistics, light manufacturing, and knowledge services.
