Kalibrálások refers to the process of calibration in Hungarian. Calibration is a fundamental procedure in metrology and many scientific and industrial fields. It involves comparing a measuring instrument's displayed value to a known standard or reference value. This comparison determines if the instrument is measuring accurately and within acceptable tolerances.

The primary goal of calibration is to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurements. Over time, measuring instruments can drift due to wear, environmental factors, or aging components. Regular calibration corrects these deviations, ensuring that the instrument provides correct readings. This is crucial for quality control, safety, research, and regulatory compliance.

Calibration procedures typically involve using a traceable standard, which is an instrument or reference material whose accuracy is certified and traceable to national or international standards. The instrument being calibrated is subjected to several measurements at different points within its range. The results are then compared to the standard.

If the instrument deviates beyond a specified tolerance, adjustments are made. If adjustment is not possible or sufficient, the instrument may be deemed out of calibration and may require repair or replacement. A calibration certificate is usually issued, documenting the performed calibration, the results, the standards used, and the date of calibration. This certificate serves as proof that the instrument has been verified for accuracy. The frequency of calibration depends on the instrument's type, usage, and the criticality of the measurements.
