Kaitseväelased
Kaitseväelased is the Estonian term for members of the Estonian Defence Forces. This encompasses all active and reserve personnel serving in the Estonian Land Force, Estonian Navy, Estonian Air Force, and the Estonian Defence League. The Estonian Defence Forces are responsible for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Estonia and its allies. Kaitseväelased can be conscripts serving their mandatory military service, professional soldiers, or volunteer reservists. Their duties range from territorial defense and participation in international peacekeeping missions to disaster relief and support for civil authorities. The organization emphasizes professionalism, discipline, and adherence to NATO standards, as Estonia is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Training for kaitseväelased includes both individual combat skills and collective unit operations, preparing them for a variety of security challenges. The concept of kaitseväelased reflects Estonia's commitment to maintaining a capable and modern defense force that contributes to regional and global security.
