KaakkoisSuomen

KaakkoisSuomen is a geographical region in Finland. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, bordering Russia to the east. The administrative unit of KaakkoisSuomen was a province that existed from 1997 until 2010, when it was merged with other provinces to form the new South-Eastern Finland province. Before its dissolution, it comprised several municipalities and cities, each with its own unique cultural and economic identity. The main cities within the former province included Lappeenranta and Kouvola. The region's economy has traditionally been based on forestry, paper production, and manufacturing.
