KATTUN

KATTUN is a Japanese boy band formed by Johnny & Associates (now SMILE-UP.). The group debuted on April 22, 2005, with their single "X - [email protected]!". Initially, KATTUN was a sextet, comprising Kazuya Kamenashi, Tatsuya Ueda, Jin Akanishi, Junnosuke Taguchi, Ryota Kosaka, and Tomohisa Yamashita. Their name is an acronym formed from the first syllable of each member's surname.

KATTUN achieved rapid success, breaking several sales records for debut singles in Japan. They are known for their diverse musical style, incorporating elements of rock, pop, and R&B. Beyond music, the members have also pursued individual careers in acting, television hosting, and modeling.

Over the years, the group's lineup has seen changes. Jin Akanishi departed in 2010 to pursue a solo career overseas, and Tomohisa Yamashita left in 2011 to focus on his solo activities. Junnosuke Taguchi departed in 2016. KATTUN has continued as a trio, with Kamenashi, Ueda, and Kosaka. Despite these changes, the group has maintained a dedicated fanbase and continues to release music and perform. They have released numerous successful albums and singles, solidifying their position as a prominent group in the Japanese music industry.
