The primary function of a refrigerator is to maintain a temperature typically between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. This is achieved through a refrigeration cycle, which involves a refrigerant circulating through a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. The compressor increases the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant, which then releases heat in the condenser. As the refrigerant passes through the expansion valve, its pressure and temperature drop significantly, allowing it to absorb heat from the interior of the refrigerator in the evaporator. This process continuously removes heat from the insulated cabinet.
