Käivitusomadused, often translated as starting characteristics or ignition properties, refer to the set of parameters that define how easily and reliably a substance or system begins to combust or operate. In the context of fuels and combustion, these properties are crucial for ensuring efficient and safe ignition. Key aspects include the ignition temperature, which is the minimum temperature at which a substance will ignite in the presence of an oxidant and a flame or spark. Another important factor is the autoignition temperature, the lowest temperature at which a substance will spontaneously ignite in a normal atmosphere without an external source of ignition.

For internal combustion engines, käivitusomadused relate to the ease with which the engine starts when cold.
