JoyCon

The Joy-Con is the primary controller for the Nintendo Switch video game console. It is a pair of detachable controllers that can be used in multiple ways. Each Joy-Con contains an analog stick, a directional pad or face buttons, shoulder buttons, and motion controls. They also feature HD Rumble technology for nuanced tactile feedback.

The Joy-Cons can be attached to the sides of the Nintendo Switch console for handheld play. Alternatively, they can be used wirelessly, either individually as separate controllers for two players, or together in a Joy-Con grip accessory which mimics the form factor of a traditional gamepad. This versatility allows for various play styles and social gaming experiences.

Each Joy-Con contains an accelerometer and a gyroscope, enabling motion-sensing gameplay. One Joy-Con, typically the right one, also includes an infrared motion camera, which can detect the shape, motion, and distance of objects in front of it. The left Joy-Con has a dedicated capture button for taking screenshots and recording video clips. They connect to the Switch wirelessly via Bluetooth. They can be recharged by attaching them to the console or by using a separately sold charging grip.
