Joseonjok
Joseonjok, also known as Chaoxianzu in Chinese, refers to ethnic Koreans living in the People's Republic of China. They are one of China's 56 officially recognized ethnic groups. The community's roots lie in Korean migrants who moved to Manchuria in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and formed sizable communities in the northeast. The core region is Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, established in 1952, which is home to the largest concentration of Joseonjok. Smaller populations are found in Heilongjiang, Liaoning, and in major urban centers across China.
