Jordara

Jordara is a fictional city used in speculative fiction, world-building, and role-playing campaigns. It is portrayed as a mid-sized urban center in the imagined nation of Arinor, located at the confluence of the Neris River and the Amber Canal. The city covers about 40 square kilometers and has a temperate climate.

Name origin is uncertain. Local folklore links Jordara to a legendary ferryman; linguistic notes in the world speculate roots in an old river language.

Geography centers on the riverfront, with northern hills and agricultural lands to the south.

Jordara began as a fortress town in the 12th century, grew around a ford, and became a provincial capital by the 16th century. A major fire in 1783 led to rebuilding that shaped the city’s street plan.

Today the population numbers around 54,000. The economy combines logistics, services, and light manufacturing, with a river port contributing to regional trade.

Jordara is governed by a mayor–council system and a 15-member municipal council within the broader regional framework.

Notable sites include Jordara Cathedral, the Old Bridge, and Market Hall. The city hosts an annual River Festival and maintains craft traditions and river cuisine. Transport comprises a regional rail line, river port, and a ring road.
