Jomhuri
Jomhuri is the Persian word for republic. It is used in Persian-speaking and Tajik contexts to denote a form of government in which the state is defined as a republic rather than a monarchy. The term comes from the Arabic jumhūriyyah, with the root jumhūr meaning “the public” or “the people,” and the suffix that forms abstract nouns meaning “quality” or “state.” In Persian, the noun form jomhuriyat (جمهوریت) conveys the concept of a republic, while jomhuri (جمهوری) functions as the attributive form in phrases such as “the republic.”
