Johansenis
Johansenis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to South Africa. The genus was first described by botanist Carl Peter Thunberg in 1794, and it is named in honor of Johan Christian Friedrich Höhnel, a German botanist who made significant contributions to the study of South African flora. Johansenis species are characterized by their small, daisy-like flowers and are often found in grasslands and other open habitats.
The genus includes two recognized species:
1. Johansenis africana, commonly known as the African johansenis, is a perennial herb with small, white flowers
2. Johansenis pauciflora, also known as the few-flowered johansenis, is a perennial herb with small, white flowers
Johansenis species are not commonly cultivated in gardens, but they can be grown in well-drained soil and
