Joghallgatók

Joghallgatók is the Hungarian term for law students. It refers to individuals enrolled in a law program at a higher education institution in Hungary. These programs typically lead to a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree or its equivalent, which is a prerequisite for taking the bar exam and practicing law in Hungary.

The curriculum for joghallgatók generally covers a wide range of legal subjects, including constitutional law, civil law, criminal law, administrative law, and commercial law. Students also study legal history, legal theory, and comparative law. The education emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, often incorporating moot court competitions, legal clinics, and internships.

Upon completion of their studies, joghallgatók must pass a rigorous state examination (Országos Szakvizsga) to qualify for legal professions. This examination tests their comprehensive understanding of Hungarian law.
