Jetikütused

Jetikütused, also known as aviation fuels, are specialized petroleum-derived fuels designed for use in aircraft engines, primarily jet engines and turboprops. These fuels are engineered to meet stringent performance and safety requirements for aviation applications. The most common type of jet fuel is Jet A-1, which is a kerosene-based fuel. It is characterized by its low freezing point, high energy density, and stability at extreme temperatures encountered during flight. Another variant, Jet A, is similar to Jet A-1 but has a slightly higher freezing point and is typically used in domestic aviation within the United States.

Jet fuels are produced through a refining process that involves distilling crude oil. Key properties are carefully controlled, including flash point, freezing point, viscosity, and sulfur content, to ensure safe and efficient engine operation. Additives are often incorporated to enhance performance and safety, such as antioxidants to prevent gum formation, anti-icing agents to prevent ice crystal formation, and static dissipators to reduce the risk of electrical discharge. The quality and consistency of jet fuel are critical for the reliability and safety of air travel.
