Jerozolim

Jerozolim is the Polish name for Jerusalem, the capital and largest city of Israel. It is located in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. The city holds major religious significance for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and contains the historic Old City.

Its history spans millennia, with ancient temples, the Roman and Byzantine eras, and periods of Arab, Crusader, Ottoman, and British rule. In the modern era, Jerusalem has been at the center of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and diplomacy. In international practice, many governments maintain embassies in Tel Aviv rather than in Jerusalem, while the status of East Jerusalem remains a core issue in negotiations over the future of the city.

In Polish usage, the name Jerozolim is typically used in historical texts or literary contexts, while the modern Polish designation for the city is Jerozolima.
