Jenovabased
Jenovabased is a term that refers to a specific type of genetic engineering technique used to create organisms that are resistant to the herbicide glyphosate. The process involves the introduction of a gene from the soil bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens, which confers resistance to glyphosate, into the genome of a target plant. This gene, known as pat, encodes for an enzyme that inactivates glyphosate, preventing it from interfering with the plant's ability to synthesize essential amino acids.
The term "Jenovabased" is derived from the name of the company that developed the technology, Monsanto (now
The use of Jenovabased technology has been a subject of debate, with proponents arguing that it increases
