Jayalalithaa

Jayalalithaa was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for over fourteen years in five spells. She was a prominent figure in the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party. Born in 1948, Jayalalithaa had a successful career as a film actress before entering politics. She made her debut in Tamil cinema in 1964 and starred in numerous films across various South Indian languages.

Her political career began in the early 1980s when she joined the AIADMK, founded by M. G. Ramachandran. Following his death, she rose to lead the party. Jayalalithaa first became Chief Minister in 1991 and her tenure was marked by significant policy initiatives and a strong administrative style. She was known for her populist schemes and charismatic leadership, which garnered her a loyal following.

Throughout her political career, Jayalalithaa faced various legal challenges and controversies.
