Jahutussüsteemides is the Estonian term for cooling systems. These systems are crucial in a wide range of applications to control temperature and prevent overheating. They are broadly categorized into refrigeration systems, which operate below ambient temperature, and air conditioning systems, which typically maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.

Refrigeration systems commonly employ a vapor-compression cycle. This involves a refrigerant that circulates through components like a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. The compressor increases the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant gas. It then releases heat to the surroundings in the condenser, turning into a high-pressure liquid. This liquid passes through the expansion valve, where its pressure and temperature drop significantly. Finally, the cold, low-pressure refrigerant flows through the evaporator, absorbing heat from the space to be cooled and returning to a gas, completing the cycle. Applications include refrigerators, freezers, and industrial chillers.

Air conditioning systems often use similar principles but focus on comfort cooling. They remove heat and humidity from indoor air, circulating cooled, dehumidified air back into the space. Beyond cooling, many systems also provide heating, ventilation, and air filtration. Components include an outdoor unit containing the compressor and condenser, and an indoor unit with the evaporator and fan. Control is typically managed by a thermostat. These systems are vital for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure a stable and pleasant environment.
