Jahrhunderthalle

The Jahrhunderthalle, meaning "Centennial Hall," is a historic exhibition hall located in Wrocław, Poland, formerly known as Breslau, Germany. It was constructed between 1911 and 1913 for the Centennial Exhibition of 1813, commemorating the centenary of the Napoleonic Wars. The hall is a significant example of early 20th-century modernist architecture and engineering.

Designed by architect Max Berg, the Jahrhunderthalle is renowned for its massive concrete dome, which was one of the largest of its time. The structure's innovative use of reinforced concrete was groundbreaking for its era, allowing for a vast, column-free interior space. The building's design also features a central, expansive hall surrounded by smaller exhibition areas and a large arena.

Following World War II, the building, like the city, became part of Poland. It has undergone several renovations and restorations throughout its history to preserve its architectural integrity and adapt it for contemporary use. Today, the Jahrhunderthalle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its pioneering architectural and engineering achievements. It continues to serve as a venue for exhibitions, concerts, sporting events, and cultural gatherings, attracting visitors from around the world.
