Järistykksen
Järistyksen is a term that can refer to several concepts, most commonly a seismic event or tremor. In geology, a järistys is the shaking of the surface of the Earth, resulting from a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust, typically caused by a fault slip. This energy is released in the form of seismic waves that travel through the Earth and along its surface, causing the ground to shake. The magnitude of a järistys is measured using seismographs, with the Richter scale and moment magnitude scale being the most widely used.
The term "järistys" can also be used more broadly to describe any sudden, significant disturbance or upheaval.
