Jännitekerroin

Jännitekerroin, also known as voltage divider, is a simple passive linear circuit that produces an output voltage that is a fraction of its input voltage. It is constructed from two series-connected resistors. The input voltage is applied across the two resistors, and the output voltage is taken across one of the resistors.

The formula for calculating the output voltage in a jännitekerroin is Vout = Vin * (R2 / (R1 + R2)), where Vin is the input voltage, R1 is the resistance of the first resistor, and R2 is the resistance of the second resistor. The ratio R2 / (R1 + R2) is called the voltage division ratio or jännitekerroin.

Jännitekerroin circuits are widely used in electronics for various purposes. They can be used to scale down a voltage to a level suitable for a particular component, such as a microcontroller's analog-to-digital converter. They are also employed in sensor circuits to convert changes in physical quantities, like temperature or light, into corresponding voltage changes. Furthermore, jännitekerroin circuits can be used as potentiometers, which allow for adjustable voltage division.

While simple and effective, jännitekerroin circuits have limitations. They are not efficient for power delivery, as power is dissipated in both resistors. They also have a high output impedance, which can affect their performance when connected to loads that draw significant current. Despite these limitations, the jännitekerroin remains a fundamental building block in many electronic designs due to its simplicity and versatility.
