Different forms of liquid cooling exist, including direct-to-chip cooling, where cooling plates are attached directly to high-heat components like CPUs, and immersion cooling, where entire servers are submerged in a non-conductive fluid.

It also plays a significant role in energy efficiency, as cooling systems can consume a substantial portion of a data center's total power usage.
