Izvjetaja

Izvjetaja is a term that appears in the context of South Slavic languages as a nonstandard orthographic variant associated with the concept of a report. It is not regarded as a standard form in contemporary Croatian, Bosnian, or Serbian. In standard orthography, the noun is izvještaj (singular), with inflected forms such as izvještaji (nominative plural) and izvještaja (genitive plural). Variants without diacritics commonly occur in ASCII texts, historic documents, or informal writing, where diacritics are omitted or altered.

Linguistic note

The appearance of izvjetaja is typically attributed to orthographic simplification, typographic error, or a regional/legacy spelling that did not adopt the modern diacritic-based standard. In formal dictionaries and modern Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian usage, this form is not listed as a standard variant, and the neutral reference form remains izvještaj.
