IsraelJudah

IsraelJudah refers to the union of the Israelite tribes that formed a single kingdom. This kingdom, according to biblical accounts, was established after the period of the Judges. Saul is traditionally recognized as the first king, followed by David and then Solomon. The united monarchy represents a significant period in ancient Israelite history, marked by centralized governance, military expansion, and the construction of the First Temple in Jerusalem.

Following the death of Solomon, the kingdom split into two distinct entities: the Kingdom of Israel in the north, comprising ten tribes, and the Kingdom of Judah in the south, consisting primarily of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The Kingdom of Israel, often referred to as the northern kingdom, eventually fell to the Assyrian Empire in 722 BCE. The Kingdom of Judah, the southern kingdom, continued for a longer period before being conquered by the Neo-Babylonian Empire in 586 BCE, leading to the Babylonian exile. The term "IsraelJudah" can therefore encompass both the initial united monarchy and the subsequent separate kingdoms, particularly the southern Kingdom of Judah, which preserved a distinct identity and lineage. The legacy of these kingdoms is central to Jewish history, religion, and identity.
