Isosuchus

Isosuchus is an extinct genus of pseudosuchian reptile that lived during the Middle Triassic period. Fossils of Isosuchus have been found in Asia. It is classified within the order Phytosauria, a group of large, crocodile-like reptiles that were among the dominant terrestrial predators of their time. Phytosaurs were characterized by their long snouts, external nostrils positioned far back on the skull, and heavy builds.

The genus Isosuchus is known from fragmentary remains, primarily skull material. These fossils indicate a moderately sized animal, though precise dimensions are difficult to ascertain due to the incomplete nature of the discoveries. Like other phytosaurs, Isosuchus was likely semiaquatic, inhabiting freshwater environments such as rivers and lakes.
