Isokyanaattipäätteitä

Isokyanaattipäätteitä, known in English as isocyanate-terminated or isocyanate-tipped compounds, are organic molecules that feature one or more isocyanate functional groups (-N=C=O) at their terminal positions. These terminal isocyanate groups are highly reactive electrophiles, making the compounds useful intermediates in various chemical syntheses. The reactivity stems from the polarized carbon-nitrogen double bonds within the isocyanate group, which are susceptible to nucleophilic attack.

The primary application of isokyanaattipäätteitä lies in the production of polyurethanes. When these compounds react with polyols (molecules containing multiple hydroxyl groups), they undergo a polyaddition reaction, forming urethane linkages and extending polymer chains.
