Isoelektronisilla
Isoelektronisilla refers to a set of atoms, ions, or molecules that possess the same number of electrons. This shared electron configuration leads to similar chemical properties. For instance, the nitrogen ion N³⁻, the oxygen ion O²⁻, the fluoride ion F⁻, and the neon atom Ne are all isoelectronic. They each have ten electrons. Similarly, the potassium ion K⁺, the calcium ion Ca²⁺, and the argon atom Ar are isoelectronic with eighteen electrons.
The concept of isoelectronic species is particularly useful in understanding trends in atomic and ionic radii.
