Isikutõendid

Isikutõendid are Estonian language documents that verify an individual's identity and are issued by the Estonian government. These documents are used to verify the identity of citizens and residents of Estonia, as well as foreign nationals staying or working in the country.

Isikutõendid are often confused with Estonian ID cards, but they are actually a separate type of document. While ID cards are issued to all Estonian citizens at the age of 18, Isikutõendid are issued to individuals who do not have an ID card, such as minors, individuals who do not have the right to participate in the elections, or individuals who are not citizens of Estonia.

There are several types of Isikutõendid, including childcare ID, individual ID, and residence permit card. Childcare IDs are issued to minors who live in Estonia, but do not have an ID card. Individual IDs are issued to individuals who do not have the right to participate in the elections, or who are not citizens of Estonia. Residence permit cards are issued to foreign nationals who have a residence permit in Estonia.

Isikutõendid are used in various situations, including when opening a bank account, registering at a school or university, or applying for a residence permit. The documents are valid for a certain period of time and may need to be updated or replaced if the information on them changes.

In order to obtain an Isikutõend, an individual must submit an application to the relevant authority, such as the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board, and provide the required documentation, including a photo and a signature. The document can be obtained in person or through an authorized representative.
