Isdannelse
Isdannelse, or ice formation, refers to the physical processes by which water transitions from a liquid to a solid state, creating ice crystals and larger ice structures in natural and engineered environments. The phenomenon occurs when the temperature of water falls below its freezing point (0 °C or 32 °F) and the surrounding conditions allow nucleation, the initial clustering of water molecules that serve as the seed for crystal growth.
In the atmosphere, isdannelse plays a central role in cloud physics and precipitation. Supercooled droplets can
In aquatic systems, ice formation follows a distinctive pattern: as water cools, it reaches maximum density
Industrial applications exploit controlled isdannelse for food preservation, cryopreservation, and refrigeration technologies, while research on ice
