Ionisuhteet

Ionisuhteet, also known as ionic compounds, are chemical substances composed of ions. These compounds are formed when atoms of different elements gain or lose electrons to achieve a stable electron configuration, resulting in the formation of positively charged cations and negatively charged anions. The electrostatic attraction between these oppositely charged ions holds the compound together. Ionic compounds typically have high melting and boiling points due to the strong ionic bonds between the ions. They are often soluble in water and conduct electricity when dissolved in water or molten, as the ions are free to move. Common examples of ionic compounds include sodium chloride (NaCl), potassium iodide (KI), and calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The properties of ionic compounds are influenced by the size and charge of the ions involved, as well as the strength of the ionic bonds.
