Intervjuet

Intervjuet is a term used in several Nordic languages to denote a specific interview, and it is also used as a proper name for media works in Nordic contexts. In general usage, intervj u refers to a question-and-answer session between an interviewer and a respondent, typically conducted for journalism, research, or broadcasting. The definite form intervjuet appears in Norwegian Bokmål and Danish, where the noun is commonly inflected to indicate “the interview”; in Swedish, the equivalent definite form is intervjun, but the concept remains the same.

Etymology traces intervjuet to the English word interview, which itself derives from the French entrevue. The term was adapted into Scandinavian languages as a loanword and then integrated into local noun morphology, producing the various definite forms seen in Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish.

Usage in journalism and scholarship centers on the interview as a method for eliciting information, insights, and firsthand accounts. Intervjuet figures prominently in news reporting, feature writing, and broadcast segments, and it is also employed in oral history and qualitative research to document responses verbatim or in summarized form. The definite form is commonly used in text to label a particular interview, such as "Intervjuet med lederen" (the interview with the leader).
