Interferometrialaitteet, also known as interferometric arrays, are a type of astronomical instrument used to achieve high angular resolution by combining the signals from multiple telescopes. This technique is based on the principle of interferometry, which involves measuring the interference pattern of waves to extract information about the waves' properties. In the context of astronomy, interferometric arrays are used to observe celestial objects with unprecedented detail.

The basic concept behind interferometric arrays is to create a synthetic aperture that is much larger than the physical size of the individual telescopes. This is achieved by combining the signals from multiple telescopes, which are separated by a distance known as the baseline. The interference pattern of the combined signals is then analyzed to reconstruct an image of the observed object with a resolution that is proportional to the baseline length.

Interferometric arrays can be used to observe a wide range of celestial objects, including stars, galaxies, and quasars. They are particularly useful for studying the structure and dynamics of these objects, as well as for detecting and characterizing exoplanets. Some of the most well-known interferometric arrays include the Very Large Array (VLA) in the United States, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile, and the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), which was used to capture the first-ever image of a black hole.

Interferometric arrays have revolutionized our understanding of the universe by providing detailed images and measurements of celestial objects that were previously impossible to obtain.
