Insulindependent
Insulindependent refers to a state in which an organism does not require external administration of insulin for the regulation of blood glucose levels. This is the typical metabolic state for individuals who do not have diabetes mellitus, particularly type 1 diabetes, or other conditions that impair insulin production or utilization. In healthy individuals, the pancreas, specifically the beta cells within the islets of Langerhans, produces and releases endogenous insulin in response to rising blood glucose. This insulin then facilitates the uptake of glucose from the bloodstream into cells for energy or storage, thereby maintaining blood glucose within a narrow, normal range.
