Inskrifter
Inskrifter is a term used in Swedish and other Nordic contexts to denote inscriptions—texts that have been engraved, painted, cast, or written on durable materials to convey information or commemorate an event. Inskrifter appear on stone monuments, metal plaques, pottery, coins, seals, and architectural features, as well as on manuscripts and codices. The study of inscriptions, epigraphy, integrates linguistics, archaeology, and history to read texts, identify authorship, determine dating, and interpret the social and cultural contexts in which they were produced.
