Insitukalibrering, a Swedish term, translates to "in situ calibration" in English. It refers to the process of calibrating measuring instruments or systems directly at their place of use or operation, rather than in a laboratory or controlled environment. This method is employed when it is impractical, too costly, or impossible to remove the instrument for calibration. Examples include calibrating large industrial machinery, environmental monitoring sensors deployed in the field, or complex medical equipment.

The primary advantage of insitukalibrering is its ability to account for the specific environmental conditions and operating stresses the instrument will experience during its actual use. Factors like temperature, humidity, vibration, and electromagnetic interference can all affect instrument readings. By calibrating in situ, these real-world influences are inherently included in the calibration process, leading to more accurate and reliable measurements in the operational environment. This can also reduce downtime associated with removing and reinstalling equipment.

However, insitukalibrering can present challenges. It often requires specialized portable calibration equipment and trained personnel who can perform the calibration safely and effectively on-site.
