Inneneinheit

Inneneinheit is a German term that translates to "indoor unit" in English. It refers to a component of a climate control system, most commonly an air conditioner or a heat pump, that is installed inside a building. The indoor unit is responsible for conditioning the air within a specific space and distributing it. It typically contains a fan, an evaporator coil (for cooling) or a heating coil, and air filters. The fan circulates the indoor air across the coil, where it is either cooled or heated. The filtered air is then returned to the room.

In split system air conditioners and heat pumps, the inneneinheit is paired with an outdoor unit that houses the compressor and condenser or condenser coil. Refrigerant lines connect the two units, allowing for the transfer of heat. The inneneinheit can come in various forms, including wall-mounted units, ceiling cassettes, ducted systems, and floor-standing units, each designed to suit different architectural styles and space requirements. Its primary function is to provide comfortable indoor temperatures by either removing heat from the space during cooling cycles or adding heat during heating cycles.
