Infraorbitaalisen
Infraorbitalis is a muscle located in the upper part of the face, specifically in the infraorbital region. It is one of the muscles of facial expression and is innervated by the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII). The infraorbitalis muscle originates from the infraorbital margin of the maxilla and inserts into the skin of the upper lip and the orbicularis oris muscle. Its primary function is to elevate the upper lip, contributing to expressions such as smiling and whistling. The muscle is also involved in the compression of the infraorbital foramen, which is important for the passage of the infraorbital nerve and vessels. The infraorbitalis muscle is a thin, flat muscle that is often difficult to palpate due to its superficial location and thinness. It is a key component of the facial musculature and plays a crucial role in various facial expressions and movements.
