Infiltrátumok

Infiltrátumok refer to substances or cells that have accumulated abnormally within tissues or organs. This accumulation can be a consequence of various pathological processes, including inflammation, infection, or the growth of tumors. The nature of the infiltrátum depends on the underlying cause. For instance, in inflammatory conditions, an infiltrátum might consist of white blood cells, such as neutrophils or lymphocytes, migrating to the affected site to combat pathogens or clear debris. In bacterial infections, pus, a collection of dead neutrophils, bacteria, and tissue fluid, can be considered a type of purulent infiltrátum.

Malignant infiltrátum refers to the infiltration of cancerous cells into surrounding healthy tissues. This process is a hallmark of invasive cancer and contributes to the spread of the disease. The infiltrátum can disrupt normal tissue architecture and function, leading to various symptoms depending on the location and extent of the infiltration. In some cases, infiltrátum might also involve the deposition of abnormal proteins or other substances, as seen in amyloidosis, where amyloid protein deposits infiltrate tissues. Diagnosis of infiltrátum often involves medical imaging techniques, biopsies, and laboratory analysis to identify the nature of the accumulated material and determine the underlying cause, which is crucial for appropriate treatment.
