Infektsioonilisi

Infektsioonilisi is a term used in Estonian to describe something that is infectious. This means it is capable of being transmitted from one person or organism to another, typically by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Infectious agents spread through various routes, including direct contact, inhalation of airborne particles, ingestion of contaminated food or water, or through vectors like insects.

Diseases caused by infectious agents are known as infections. These can range in severity from mild, self-limiting conditions to severe, life-threatening illnesses. Examples of common infectious diseases include the common cold, influenza, COVID-19, tuberculosis, and malaria. Prevention and control of infectious diseases are crucial public health goals, often achieved through hygiene practices, vaccination, sanitation, and the judicious use of antimicrobial medications.
