Induktionsschritte, also known as the induction step or inductive step, are a fundamental part of mathematical induction. Mathematical induction is a proof technique used to establish that a given statement or property holds true for all natural numbers, or for all integers greater than or equal to some starting integer. The proof by induction typically consists of two main parts: the base case and the inductive step.

The base case establishes that the statement is true for the smallest value in the set, usually n=0 or n=1. Once the base case is verified, the inductive step proceeds. The core idea of the inductive step is to show that if the statement is true for an arbitrary natural number k, then it must also be true for the next natural number, k+1. This is achieved by assuming the statement holds for k (this assumption is called the inductive hypothesis) and then logically deducing that the statement must also hold for k+1.

In essence, the inductive step demonstrates a chain reaction: if the statement is true for the first element, and if its truth for any element implies its truth for the subsequent element, then by extension, the statement must be true for all elements in the sequence. This "domino effect" ensures that the property propagates throughout the entire set of natural numbers, thus proving the statement for all of them. The rigor of this logical deduction is what makes mathematical induction a powerful tool in number theory and computer science.
