Immorphs

Immorphs are a fictional species from the science fiction franchise "Star Trek". They are a humanoid species with a unique biological characteristic: their bodies are capable of transforming into any other organic life form, including other humanoids. This ability is known as "immorphosis". The process involves the immorph's DNA being replaced with that of the target organism, allowing them to assume the physical appearance and abilities of that organism. However, this transformation is not permanent and the immorph must return to their original form after a certain period, typically 24 hours.

Immorphs are a peaceful species, using their ability for exploration, study, and cultural exchange rather than aggression. They are known for their curiosity and open-mindedness, often serving as diplomats and ambassadors in the Star Trek universe. Their homeworld is Immorta, a planet rich in organic life forms, which has allowed them to develop and refine their unique biological trait.

The concept of immorphs was introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Pegasus", where they first appeared as a guest species on the USS Enterprise-D. Since then, they have made several appearances in the Star Trek franchise, including in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks and the live-action series Star Trek: Picard.
